weird, but true - part II
i can open up any month's picture folder
and find at least one picture of ryan
wearing either of these 2 shirts
weird, but true

the past year, ryan has lived for the color green
when josie sees green she says "ry ry?"
his preschool teacher makes a point
to give ryan green stickers on his paper
the other kids in the class know that ryan's color is green
everyone knows that ryan's color is green
well, not any more...
as suddenly as his love of green started,
it has abruptly ended
and that is totally ryan
ryan is our little light switch
he's either on or off
he loves something or he hates it
ryan's life is black and white
weird, but true
i gotta admit i'm a little sad to see his green stage over -
there were days when i wished
that wearing green wasn't such a necessity -
but it was fun to see his little personality develop
and watch him become so passionate about something

and as far as his beloved green shirts...
well the green numbered shirt is too small
and i've packed it away in his memory bin :)
{ok, maybe another weird, but true - ha ha}
and the other green shirt -
i gotta say that $5 walmart earth day shirt is still going strong!
and now it only gets worn when the super hero shirts are dirty :)

weird, but true - part I
olivia has a favorite book at school -- weird, but true
she loves to tell us funny facts that she's learned from this book
like did you know that gorillas burp when they are happy?
weird, but true
so, i need to share a weird, but true fact about our life.
so here goes...
our kids are not early risers
well except on those rare occasions when their parents
really want to sleep in.
anyways,
getting them up for school in the morning
is not high on my list of favorite things to do.
crabby & grouchy are a few words that come to mind...
last week we finally bought the kids a basketball hoop.
garrett's been obsessed with basketball for a while now,
and we knew the other kids would love it too.
so one night tim put it together while they were asleep.
the next morning all i had to do was mention
that the hoop was set up.
and viola -
i had kids up and dressed in no time!
yes, these same kids that i have to drag out of bed
were shooting hoops before 8am.
check out the sky -
the sun wasn't even totally up yet!

who knew?
last week ryan's class had a field trip
to the wittenbach nature center
it was our first time & we'll definitely go back
there were lots of trails to explore
and lots of fun animals to check out
but who knew that with all that fun stuff
the favorite parts of the visit were
the hats the kids made & the sand box?

happy green day!
here's how the kids celebrated st. patrick's day...
finding the one piece of green clothing they each owned...
(well except ryan!)
green pancakes for breakfast...
and finally, their favorite supper - just GREEN!
yes, their favorite supper is plain noodles!
how did the adults celebrate?
well...
tim had "green supper then take kids to garrett's basketball game" duty
and i took a microbiology test.
yes, good times!

museum days
saturday we hung out with cousin elle
at the children's museum.
then monday {no school - woo hoo}
we visited the public museum with the audias.
the new bugs exhibit was lots of fun -
except for poor matthew...
huge moving bugs & scared 2 year old are not a good combo :(
and yes, the boys are digging for live bugs :)
ick.
