naughty stuff

last week our photographer gave me a magazine that is basically a listing of all sorts of companies & websites for cool kid stuff. i had to stop by and pick up some pictures today, so i brought the magazine along to give back to her.

olivia saw it in the car and asked to look at it. she was way in back plus i knew she'd crumple a few pages so i told her NO and that it was just an adult magazine.

olivia: "oh, so it has naughty stuff in it? like what kind of naughty stuff?"

nice. real nice. i can just see her telling her teacher at school about her mom's naughty magazines. ha ha! it's amazing & scary at what a 4 yr old will say!!!

a little explanation: once i told olivia she couldn't watch csi with me cuz it was an adult show. so i'm guessing the murder scene on csi = naughty. ha ha.

ryan's true loves

at 13 months you'd think ryan would be obsessed with his blanket, his mom and even food on the floor. nope.

ryan is obsessed with our tivo remotes and fans.

he knows where the fans are in every room. when he's up they are always unplugged since he knows how to turn them on. and he knows exactly where the tivo remotes are. keep in mind we've tried to offer him old remotes with no success. he knows a tivo remote when he sees it. (i can't blame him...i love tivo too!!) as soon as we set the remote down he races over to it and points it towards the tv.

so now we've gotten quite good at hiding the remote behind couch cushions or on the mantle. and when we use it, we have to do it discretely or else he'll have a nervous breakdown.

super hero naptime

i'm always on the lookout for boy toys. garrett has a girly girl sister and he loves to play dolls with her. so lately i've been trying to find more boy toys that he'll like. we were at target the other day and i found some super hero dive sticks on clearance. the kids were super excited since they were just like the ones the barnetts have.

the cast of characters included: superwoman, superman, flash gordon & batman

obviously olivia grabs superwoman and gives garrett the rest. so i'm ready for some good boy fun and figured garrett would start imagining all sorts of boy superhero scenarios.

nope, next thing i know superwoman is the mother and the other guys are her sons. the conversation went something like this...

olivia (superwoman): boys, it's time for a nap
garrett (superman): oh mom! we are not being naughty.
olivia: i said it's nap time!
garrett: ok, mom.

later little later...

olivia (superwoman): boys, i'm caught in a net. come help me.
garrett (superman): i'm coming sweetheart!!!!!

so i guess i'll just have to wait till ryan gets a little older to play super heroes with garrett. maybe then i'll hear them fighting crime and saving bad guys.

at the time of this picture, superman was missing (and still is). maybe he's taking that nap.

here are a few highlights of garrett's day...from the tiger pjs to a yummy lunch at home afterwards...

just wanted to report that garrett had his surgery this morning. it went great! it took maybe all of 20 minutes. it wasn't a cyst as they had thought, but rather a tumor of blood vessels (or cells?). there is some fancy name for that kind of tumor, but i have no idea how to spell it. anyhow, the dr said his kind of tumor is most always benign but they'll send it out for tests.

we are home now and garrett has resumed his usually afternoon activity...watching diego. hopefully we'll all get a nap in this afternoon.

her: oh, i think i've seen your stuff before. do you have a onesie that says "little sh*t"?
me: umm, no
her: oh, how about "my baby can kick your baby's a*s"?
me: umm, no
her: well you should carry those, they would be so cute!

mmm...baby clothes & profanity. perhaps a new niche i'll have to explore. ha ha!

wanted: more cousins

i've decided that my kids need more cousins. their only cousin is matilyn. they love her to pieces...and that's the problem. they love her so much, they have a hard time sharing her. i think this problem could be easily solved with more cousins :)

this pictures tells it all... while garrett sat with matilyn, olivia was crying nearby. she was afraid that garrett & mati would fall in love and get married. and since she loves matilyn so much, that didn't fit into her plan.

customer service fun

wow, i've been slacking on posting lately. i've got plenty to post...just not enough time in the day. ahhh, can you hear the violins in the background. ha ha.

anyways, i'll post soon about what i've been working on. but i just had to share a hilarious customer service story...

i've been calling yahoo tech support lately. for the most part, they are pretty helpful. well this morning i had an issue that my friendly customer service rep, tabitha, couldn't figure out. so she had me on hold FOREVER. after about 20 minutes, i thought i could just put the phone back in the base so the battery wouldn't die. silly me, this disconnected the call.

so i called back. i waited 13 minutes to get a live person. i explained what happened and asked for tabitha. here's what they told me... there are no direct extensions. i should just keep calling until i get tabitha.

seriously, what world was that lady living in??? are you kidding me? there was no way she could get a hold of tabitha. whatever! in the end she just looked up my account. i guess my problem is now on an expedited track to engineering. so we'll see...

ouch!

this afternoon garrett grabbed a handful of ryan's hair and pulled pretty hard. after he got out of his "time out" i asked him why he pulled ryan's hair.

before he could answer, olivia said very matter of factly...
"mom, garrett pulled his hair because ryan has prettier hair than he does."

duh. why didn't i think of that.

go tigers!

over the weekend we went to detroit to see a tigers game. it was part 2 of my dad's 60th bday celebration. the kids had a blast. they each got a bobblehead at the gate (which garrett ripped the head off right away). then they eat their way through 9 innings of play. in the end the tigers lost, but we still had plenty of fun :)

ryan had a pretty fun day as well...we sent him to wendi's parents' house for the day. he had lots of fun including a nice fall on the cement :)
