the last one

josie is most definitely our last baby.

i've been clearing out little things here and there.

i've taken loads of baby boy stuff (not the "cute cute wanna keep it for memories sake stuff" - just the boring stuff) to goodwill.

the baby papasan chair is in the basement.

the changing table is in the garage.

the gender neutral pottery barn baby bedding that i just had to have back in 2002 is washed and ready for posting on craig's list.

we are definitely ready to move on.

we have no plans for #5...that is more and more apparent every day - especially at meal time, bath time & bed time - who am i kidding - it's apparent any time of day! :)

but when i end up with pictures like this - it's kinda sad. there's not going to be another baby that will be all fat and squished into a bjorn. i won't take a picture and think "wow, that reminds me of josie."

ok, enough of my pity party. we're happy with our 4 and so grateful (most days - just kidding!) that they are ours :)

here ya go... the pictures from today that reminded me of another baby who i lugged around in the bjorn on a hot & sunny day...

in case you're wondering about josie's hat... well, let's just say it was the best i could do at target on the last day of august :)

oh and here's the baby with the cute hat today...

look out ladies!!

am i supposed to be interested in this?

go to bed!

olivia has always been a hard one to get to bed at night. she is a huge night owl. once we get her to bed, she plays in her room, reads book or draws until she gets tired. then she'll just put her stuff next to her bed and fall asleep. and her light is always on until we turn it off once she's asleep.

now that the girls are sharing a room, the bedtime routine is definitely different. lights off and no play time. in theory, it should work out well because olivia needs to start getting up early for school next week. but in the meantime, it's a struggle.

every night she comes downstairs with some lame excuse or an urgent need. after repeatedly taking her back upstairs my patience becomes non-existent.

so last night i just wanted a little peace & quiet. olivia came downstairs yet again...

olivia: mom, i need you to come upstairs right away!!

me: why? (thinking to myself "argh. just go to bed already!!")

olivia: mom, you have to come see josie. she is adorable-est to the moon and back.

ok, how can you get mad at a girl who makes a comment like that?

and how can you get mad at a girl how strives for high fashion even while sleeping?

movin' on up out

it's not exactly a deluxe apartment in the sky, but josie has moved out of her bassinet and into the crib! wow. i didn't think that would happen until this winter...but that time frame got moved up thanks to ryan moving into a bed and josie becoming too big for the bassinet :)

josie - too big for the bassinet - you can't believe it? neither could we. but the other day she was supposed to be taking a nap. while she cried herself to sleep, i could hear her head banging on the sides of the bassinet. i went up to get her and saw that she had flailed her foot against the side so many times that she had rubbed her little toe raw. real nice. so i gave the poor girl some socks and we got busy moving the crib out of ryan's room!

so as of tonight, our little josie is sleeping in a crib AND in olivia's room. we can't believe it. she's not quite 7 months old. while that might not seem like a big deal it is... ryan's crib was in our room until he was 14 months old. so 7 months old AND not sleeping in our room is HUGE.

so tonight was the first night in a long time that i got to turn my bedroom light on when i changed after my run. what a concept!! and tonight was the first night in a long time that olivia had to go to bed with her lights off :)

not much - but totally random

wow, i've been slacking on posting lately. either i need to sift through my pictures and post a cute one or one of the kids needs to say something really funny. although the other day, olivia called camouflage pants "goulash pants". that's funny. but not exactly post worthy.

so not much to report here. except...
after many weeks of waking up every 1.5-2 hours at night, last night josie slept the ENTIRE night. from 10pm - 6:45am then ate, then went to sleep till 9am. ahhhh do i feel refreshed or what?? as much as i love her having a growth spurt, the past few weeks i was pretty tired.

and tonight tim & i got out of the house for a date to macaroni grill. it was fun to get out without a car-full and table-full of kiddos. we did bring josie - no way i'd leave all 4 kids at bedtime (the oldest who's only 5) with a teenager. man, there are days when i can't even handle it!! we had a yummy dinner and then hit the mall to find jeans for the kids for school.

ok, when did little girl size 6 jeans start costing $39.50????
seriously.
cute.
but no i didn't buy them.

well i'm off to bed. and i bet i totally jinxed it and josie will be getting up a zillion times tonight :)

ryan's story

why do i look so sad & pathetic?

i'll start at the beginning...

i'm 2.
that means i'm big.
sunday night i decided cribs are for babies.
josie needs my crib.
(i know that cuz mom was all excited about the new crib sheets that came in the mail for josie.)

so i moved into garrett's bed.
mom calls it a bunk bed.
not sure what that means, but we sleep together on the bottom.

garrett likes the wall and i like to spread out.
it works well.

in fact, it's been going well all week.
then...
yesterday i took a nap.
i went right to sleep.
mom loves that!
then i rolled out of bed right into a pile of matchbox cars.
ouch!!!!
i was mad.
mom was sad that naptime ended too soon.

once again, check out my sad & pathetic face.
did you notice my eye?

mom felt bad that i was the "neglected 3rd child who didn't get a bed rail."
so she gave me a push-up.
sweet!
look how happy i am now!!!

notice the new addition to my bed last night :)

oprah's olivia's favorite things

hey mom, wanna know what my favorite foods are?
water, milk, bacon & powerade.

yum yum.

the love of bacon is nothing new.
here's olivia & garrett in the o'hare airport few years ago.
who knew quiznos sold sides of bacon??
there's nothing like a bowl of bacon to put a smile on her face!!

8.07.2008

why

because i love sleeping babies

because she's getting so big

because i think she's a cute

because life goes too fast!!!

that's why i like this picture :)

8.04.2008

you know you're a geek when...

you write up your own math problems.
answer them all.
give yourself stickers.
and finally, tape your pages all over the basement :)

well she might be a geek. but she's my little geek :)
love you, livvy!!
you crack me up!!

a little weekend fun

look who's 6 months!!

josie has changed so much the past few weeks. all of a sudden she's interested in her toys. she's constantly smiling and following the kids around the room with her eyes. no baby sounds yet, but i'm guessing that will come soon.

gone is the baby blob stage!

she's finally settling into a nap pattern (3 hours this afternoon!!) and sleeps ALL night. she's still just nursing, but i'm thinking we'll try some cereal in the next month or so. but no rush...meal times are already crazy around here!

by my best bathroom scale estimate, she's about 10lbs.

have SIX months really gone by already????
