we just got back from a 3 day camping trip up north

it was tons of fun and i have tons of pics to sort through
{and tons of laundry to wash!}

so a little bit of organized learning this year was perfect

he had a ton of fun & he found a best bud

umbrellas & super heroes

garrett has been begging for an umbrella for a few years now.

i really do not like the combination of kids & umbrellas.

why?

when it's pouring rain and they have an umbrella,
chances are it will take 10 times longer to get in and out of the car.
then there's the issue of numerous wet umbrellas in the car.

then there's the problem of people
getting inadvertently poked with said umbrella.

kids & umbrellas together -- not a fan.

not too long ago,
garrett and his awesome {or annoying - depending on the day} powers of persuasion
convinced me to buy him an umbrella.

he listed off the different kinds of umbrellas
he wanted to look for based on what all the other kids at school had.

you get the idea.

we ended up with a darth vader umbrella.

and yes, since we bought it we have had absolutely no rain :)

but the whole point of this story,
is a little 3 yr old and his umbrella request...

mom, i really need a bruce wayne umbrella

ok, ryan
i'll buy you an umbrella...
just as soon as i find a bruce wayne one :)

me: what?

garrett: you know, the guy who lives in the woods and

turns into a guitar.

{said very sloooooowly for my benefit, i guess}

me: i have no idea who you are talking about.

this went on for quite a while.

finally...

garrett: oh wait, i think his name is avatar not guitar.

first practice

it's a big spring for ryan -
he's playing soccer AND t-ball

how'd his first practice go?

well...

he growled at the other players when they batted :)

we discovered that ryan has a large head...



and we learned that ryan has
a super cool stride to his run {ha ha}

who knew it was possible to remain completely vertical while running?
perhaps he'll be an awesome member of the marching band :)

so overall, a sucessful first practice -

can't wait for the first game!!!
