ho ho ho

halloween candy is still overflowing from the candy bowl.
halloween decorations are still out.
garrett just got 2 new halloween costumes courtesy of target's 75% off sale.

but the new holiday at our house is christmas.

garrett saw the decorations up at the mall yesterday.

his new obsession is santa, reindeer and the words "ho ho ho."

his one concern so far is that santa is going to get snow in our house when he comes.

oh and garrett has given me the following promise about a zillion times..."mom, i will be brave. i won't cry at santa."

so the countdown begins until santa takes his spot at the mall...

the letter H & FYI

i wrote before about how olivia loves to "teach" garrett thing he needs to know for school. well she's still going strong...

last night when they were supposed to be in bed, she found one of her workbooks that was all about letters. she found the letter "h" (which is this week's letter) and started teaching garrett all about it.

then this morning as we are leaving preschool, she looks at me and says "FYI mom, the letter next week is I." thanks, olivia...and when did you learn how to use FYI?

worth the money

a few weeks ago i was regretting the fact that i had spent so much $ on the kids' halloween costumes. we (ok, it was me) decided to do a peter pan theme since it could be the last year that a theme was acceptable to my kids.

we already had captain hook, so i thought i could make peter pan & tinkerbell for cheap. surely i could do better than the prices at target. well...$60 later i left the fabric store and many hours of sewing later the costumes were done.

but i've realized that this was a great year to spend that much money on costumes. we have a total of 5 halloween parties/activities to go to, not to mention halloween night.

so i'm thinking that the ratio of costume cost to number of parties isn't looking all that bad!
p.s. contrary to what these picture show, garrett does like being captain hook. these pictures were taken a few minutes after he fell off a playside onto a hard gym floor.
